Dr. Raptis with the children of the Maasai Clinic in Kenya with her Orascoptic Dental Loupes.

We love hearing stories about the way our loupes are making a difference in patient care. We recently heard from Dr. Olga Raptis & Dr. Daniel Meija about how they used their Orascoptic loupes and lights to provide care for the Massai tribe in Kenya.

Massai Dental Clinic, sponsored and funded by the World Dental Health Organization, is for the benefit of about 50,000 people in an area that is vastly underserved in affordable, quality dental care. Treatments at the clinic are provided free of charge to patients. Drs Raptis and Meija spent two weeks volunteering at the clinic earlier this year.

That two-week period presented immeasurable challenges - Drs. Raptis and Meija would never know who would be entering and in need of what treatment. The one thing they could count on: that each patient had likely been in pain for some time.

While the majority of the treatments performed were extractions, their captivating video journals chronicling some of their time in Kenya mentions they also completed a root canal and composite restorations.

The dental duo worked tirelessly, treating over 30 patients in the first day alone. Their aim was to alleviate pain for as many patients as time and proper staffing would allow. In Dr. Raptis’ own words, the pair found Orascoptic loupes ‘to be instrumental in allowing them to perform precise dental procedures in challenging conditions, which ensured they could offer the highest quality of care to those in need.’

We are thrilled that the clarity and durability of our product stood up to the test of an active field environment and played a crucial role in the efforts of these dentists to provide care to the Massai children & community.

We’re proud to hear customer testimonies like this, but we’re even more proud of impressive clinicians, like Dr. Raptis & Dr. Meija, who put loupes to good use for even greater causes. Their commitment to excellence in dental care is commendable. We are honored to have played a role in such outstanding patient care.
